This is anisotropic magnets made by hot deformation process, mainly composed of NdFeB.

This magnet is made of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) powder produced by rapid quenching method and formed by Daido’s original hot deformation process.
The greatest feature of hot-deformed magnet is that they can be produced without HRE (heavy rare earths) like Dysprosium and/or Terbium to obtain appropriate magnetic properties. This is the world’s first magnet that does not use HRE to be used in main motors for HEVs vehicle.

Production Process
It is known that the finer the crystal grains of the raw material, it will be higher the coercive and higher the heat resistance. Since hot-deformed magnet consist of fine nanocrystals, therefore it do not need to use any (or can greatly reduce the amount of) expensive HRE that is commonly added to sintered magnets.
